Our radio production studio is located in South West England and although our shows are not broadcast live, they are processed in exactly the same way as a conventional station.  The studio looks and feels much the same as a conventional radio production or "on-air" unit.  Shows are recorded "live" in one take direct to computer hard disc.  Olympic Radio has a distinct "signature sound", which exceeds the quality and dynamics of local radio stations.  Sounding almost the same as BBC National Radio in terms of their vibrant sound quality.  This is more noticeable on the CD versions of each show, but the output is still the loudest on the internet.

Steve Elliott is the main presenter, and is also responsible for the playlisting and sound engineering.

We asked Steve how long it takes to put one complete show together
"About a week. Most of this time is spent working on the playlist, as new product arrives. The shows have to be entertaining, but our aim is to play at least 75% new music on each show. We like to be the first to playlist new stuff.  We also try to include some tracks from the past thirty years of music, which would appeal to our 25-45 demographic".

What is the most time-consuming part of Olympic Radio?
"It has to be setting up the Olympic Radio sound.  It has taken months, if not years, to get the right sound for our shows.  I managed to persuade an ex-BBC radio sound engineer to reveal a little info ! An investment in industry-standard processing equipment and software has certainly paid off.  We now have the densest, toughest and loudest radio sound in the entire world - even across the internet !"
